Le 123, mod\u00e8le phare du haut de gamme allemand, commen\u00e7ait \u00e0 perdre son monopole face \u00e0 une concurrence de plus en plus pr\u00e9sente. Mais pour beaucoup en Allemagne, r\u00e9ussir sa vie, c\u2019\u00e9tait encore rouler en <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motointegrator.fr\/pieces-de-rechange-accessoires\/g\/mercedes-benz\/e-klasse\/\">Mercedes-Benz<\/a>. \u00c0 partir de 1984, on pouvait s\u2019offrir une berline sobre, bien pens\u00e9e, robuste et fiable, visuellement inspir\u00e9e du succ\u00e8s du \u00ab Baby Benz \u00bb 190, avec un Cx impressionnant de 0,29 ! La g\u00e9n\u00e9rosit\u00e9 des volumes int\u00e9rieurs facilitait l\u2019usage quotidien tout en rendant la m\u00e9canique plus accessible pour les r\u00e9parations. Les moteurs diesel \u00e0 chambre de pr\u00e9combustion \u00e9taient \u00e9quip\u00e9s des r\u00e9put\u00e9es pompes d\u2019injection en ligne Bosch, et on disait qu\u2019ils pouvaient rouler avec presque n\u2019importe quoi &#8211; sauf de la margarine. Avec la mont\u00e9e des prix du carburant, les amateurs d\u2019huile v\u00e9g\u00e9tale y voyaient une aubaine : en \u00e9t\u00e9, on pouvait remplir le r\u00e9servoir d\u2019un W124 avec du bon vieux colza sans modification. Ext\u00e9rieurement, seule la double sortie d\u2019\u00e9chappement trahissait la pr\u00e9sence d\u2019un six cylindres. Le 300 Diesel avait, lui, des ou\u00efes d\u2019a\u00e9ration sur le pare-chocs avant. Le style restait sobre, sans versions \u00ab \u00c9l\u00e9gance \u00bb ou \u00ab Avantgarde \u00bb comme on en verra plus tard sur la W210. \u00c0 la place, le client avait acc\u00e8s \u00e0 de longues listes d\u2019options, souvent tr\u00e8s disparates aujourd\u2019hui. Du plastique color\u00e9, du tissu bariol\u00e9, du bois Zebrano, loupe de noyer voire \u00e9rable \u0153il-de-perdrix\u2026 Un vrai mix \u00e0 la carte. Et puis la gamme s\u2019est enrichie : break (S124), coup\u00e9 (C124), cabriolet (A124), et m\u00eame une version longue \u00e0 six portes (V124), aujourd\u2019hui toutes tr\u00e8s pris\u00e9es des collectionneurs.<\/p>\n<p>Le mod\u00e8le \u00ab standard \u00bb ? Le 200 ou le 230. Mais aujourd\u2019hui, c\u2019est dans un 260 six cylindres en ligne de 1988 qu\u2019on prend place. Peu \u00e9quip\u00e9, mais\u2026 il a la clim !<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Six_en_ligne\"><\/span>Six en ligne<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>L\u2019\u00e9poque o\u00f9 on achetait une W124 pour la finir sur l\u2019autoroute est r\u00e9volue. Certains mod\u00e8les ont mis un temps fou \u00e0 rendre l\u2019\u00e2me, preuve de leur robustesse. Les premi\u00e8res s\u00e9ries sont consid\u00e9r\u00e9es comme les plus fiables. Ce six cylindres longitudinal pousse gentiment mais consomme volontiers un bon super sans plomb &#8211; pas de E10 ici ! Le filtre \u00e0 air est gigantesque, tout semble surdimensionn\u00e9. Une sensation rassurante\u2026 mais sans aides \u00e0 la conduite. On y est bien install\u00e9, comme dans le salon de ses grands-parents : c\u2019est ferme, droit, pratique. L\u2019int\u00e9rieur du W124 est aust\u00e8re mais parfaitement agenc\u00e9. Les fans adorent. Perso ? Je n\u2019aime ni m\u2019y asseoir ni y rester trop longtemps : trop s\u00e9rieux, trop \u00ab fonctionnaire allemand \u00bb. Mais bon, chacun ses go\u00fbts. Le W123 avant lui \u00e9tait trop baroque, celui-l\u00e0 trop rigide. Triangle, freins, \u00e9chappement\u2026 tout est encore dispo. Rien d\u2019\u00e9tonnant : plus de 2,5 millions d\u2019exemplaires ont \u00e9t\u00e9 produits, et beaucoup roulent encore. Le point de vigilance majeur : la rouille. Un bijou qui co\u00fbte aujourd\u2019hui le prix d\u2019une maison.<\/p>\n<p>Mais les autres peuvent tranquillement rouler en 230, profiter d\u2019une conduite zen, sans bip, sans gadgets, et red\u00e9couvrir le plaisir de l\u2019automobile simple.
